How I Use My Newsletter as a Lead Generation Machine
To Fuel a 5-Figure Monthly Revenue Business...Without Paid Subscribers
I never pay for leads, but I have all I can handle
Substack can be the best lead-generation system you’re likely to find… AND IT’S FREE!
Unless you’re driving attention to your Substack newsletter via a massive social media following, most of your audience comes organically from Substack.
Here’s how I use Substack’s lead generation ability to fuel a 5-figure revenue business…and how you can learn to do the same.
Everything begins with Substack Notes
I post to Substack Notes on most days. A few months ago, I stumbled across a system for posting to Notes that jump-started my free subscriptions.
I adapted it to my business and called it the Tiny Tribes🪶 Three-Pronged Notes System. Creative, right? 🤭
Categories of posts: growth content, authority content, and personal content.
Here’s the breakdown of what they might include:
Growth Content: 🌱
Posts about your observations for your business climate, the events you’re planning
Trends
Current Events
Time of Year (Holidays)
Business happenings
Authority Content: 👨🏽🎓
Lessons and Tips
How-Tos
Guidance
Case Studies
Personal Content: 🙋🏽♂️
Who you are as a person
Peek behind the scenes
Your stories
Your worldview
Your vulnerabilities

Authority Content Notes:
Personal Content Notes:
My Three-Pronged Notes system boosted my subscribers in 3 months by 57% and followers by 102%
From September 2 — December 2, my subscribers increased by 57%
My Total Followers rose from 400 to 803
If you get into the habit of posting three times a day on Substack Notes, you will grow your subscribers.
Your readers will begin to view you as someone who adds insight, which always drives subscriptions.
My subscribers are my Target Audience
You'll never progress unless you first understand your target audience, the problems they experience, and the solutions you can offer to ease their pain.
Since I know my TA includes:
Substack publishers who are frustrated with not making nearly enough money and want to learn how to create a 5-figure monthly revenue via their newsletter…
I understand the problems they face and the frustration that comes with them.
I’ve lived it. And it’s no picnic.
I worked to solve this problem for myself, and when I had a proven solution, I started helping others solve their problems via my online communities.

thanks for sharing the value of delivering great value on substack, but using it for leads and credibility instead of a paid substack level :-)
Thanks for this. It helped me realize I need to reframe how I think about Substack Notes. So far, I've been spending the majority of my time "creating content" and thinking that if I have a few spare minutes, I'd love to be able to post a note or two.
But now I understand that posting on Substack Notes is creating content. Now I think I get it.
Best.
